Nourish Baby Organics, a giveaway and review
Recently Nourish Baby Organics sent me two of their products to review. I was given the Organic Lavender Wash and the Organic Lavender Balm.
It was the perfect time for me to try these out because I had been searching for a natural baby wash and also happened to have a daughter with a bad rash on her stomach due to very dry winter skin.
Several years ago I learned about how our skin is permeable to chemicals as well as other substances. One simple example of this is in the fact that many medications are now administered through transdermal skin patches. My pediatrician even recently recommended that I rub oil of oregano on my son’s foot to help him get over an ear infection. Because this is true, we should be just as cautious about what goes on our skin as we are with what goes in our mouth.
The effects of constantly putting toxic chemicals on our skin, although not necessarily immediate, can be devastating. Would you feel good about feeding your baby, or even yourself for that matter, the baby shampoo you own? Even if it tasted good, would you feel like it would possibly be toxic to your child’s body? What about the lotion or moisturizer you use? I would guess you probably wouldn’t dare put it directly into your body. However, that is essentially what we are doing with the skin products we use.
The products for Nourish Baby Organics contain completely natural and organic ingredients. You can even easily pronounce all of the ingredients, always a good test whether or not a food or product might be toxic to your body. Did I mention the fragrance? A-ma-zing! But not overpowering. The consistency was a little thinner than I expected, but I wouldn’t say that is a negative. I just have had to be a bit more mindful when I pump it.
The wash was super gentle on my son, Ben’s, skin, yet did a very effective job cleaning out all the little crevices that house all that gnarly baby funk. I couldn’t stop kissing his precious little self. He smelled delightful. I’ve even been using this wash on myself and am totally in love. I can’t wait to try out some of the other fragrances.
For the past month or so my daughter, Ellie, has really been having a problem with the skin on her stomach. It has been extremely dry and turned into an itchy rash. It’s been driving her crazy. I started using the Organic Lavender Balm on her stomach a few days ago and have noticed quite a big improvement. She’s also been happy because it doesn’t sting like other products I’ve tried on her. I plan to use this as a diaper creme as well, but my little guy’s bum is perfectly soft right now.
I can’t recommend these skin products enough. It’s a shame what gets passed off as skin “care”. I actually feel like am taking “care” of my family’s skin when I use these.
